MIRA:
AN IMMERSIVE GALA

May 21st, 2022 - Upside Bungee - 1101 Mulberry St KCMO

A delightfully sinister evening awaited 'Mira's film patrons at Upside Bungee in the historic Kansas City West Bottoms...

From the river banks, canals and dark waters of Mira's world came haunting characters seeking to claim lost and wandering souls for their own. Guests heeded these grim warnings and took care, for after the sun sets these monsters came to call.

This event featured performing artists embodying different monstrous archetypes inspired from the world of the film, engaging guests in immersive theatrical experiences. Play their games and bask in their dark beauty but beware - not all of our guests survived the night.

Installations by Rachel Eilts, Chris Dong, and Eva Louise Hall transformed the space into a dark visual spectacle. A preview of the film was screened and the props and sets from the production were exhibited. ‘Mira’ musical director and composer Calvin Arsenia graced the musical stage with his band of Lost Souls.

This exhibition put on display the immense talent and artistry that went into making a film like this possible, inviting patrons to participate and revel in the world of 'Mira'.

The Lighthouse Keeper

ChadElliot_6.jpg

This weathered captain has guided souls through these treacherous waters for years, giving ominous warnings to travelers who do not know what horrors may await them. Heed his advice and take care - once you are past the point of no return this map and tokens may be the only help you receive unless you can find the Lady of the Lake.

The Water Demon

ChadElliot_2.jpg

One must tread carefully by the waters in which these tricksters reside ... they are hungry and grotesque opportunists. It is easy to fool this simple creature, but don't let his quiet facade mislead you... a price will have to be paid.

HINT: Pay the price

The Changeling

ChadElliot_5.jpg

This shapeshifter is happy to entertain and observe
all who wander through her waters. Her appearance is dictated by the eyes of her beholder so that she may be pleasing to her prey before she strikes. Play along with her games but take heed - she has quite the belly to feed.

HINT: Be Playful

The Lady of the Lake

ScottBlair_rachelEilts2.jpg

Weary travelers can seek advice and far from this powerful Oracle when the path forward seems unclear. A neutral party, she gives guidance in how to interact with various creatures that prowl within her waters. She bestows gifts of additional tokens to those that win her favor.

HINT: Give a token, take a hint

The Siren

Beware all who travel through the Siren's waters, for once you are in her presence you are truly at her whim and mercy. She will lure you in with a sweet and haunting call, but be wary - she is not kind to those who displease her.

HINT: Be fabulous and fantastical

The Water Witch

ScottBlair_vanessa5.jpg

Look for the eyes! This clever yet sinister witch feeds from the tender truths and dark secrets of others. Her all-seeing eyes see what horror is yet to come.

HINT: Be generous
